Taizhou Dachendao Aquaculture Co. Ltd.
One of China’s largest and most successful large yellow croaker farms (Larimichthys crocea). Main operations are located in Taizhou, Zhejiang province roughly 300km south of Shanghai. Large yellow croaker is one of China’s most prized saltwater fish and is a delicacy served to special guests or enjoyed on special occasions.
The species is native to the area but had been completely fished out. In the 1980’s local fishermen started farming operations and succeeded in establishing a new aquacultural business. Early farms were wooden frames with rope netting, these were easily destroyed by the frequent typhoons and had several issues related to fouling. Mr. Craven provided know-how and materials for modern systems.
